Hello everyone! Sorry for for the delay with this but unfortunately had an extremely busy write up and as you can probably imagine these can take quite a lot of time to write up.

Anyway the quarter finals are set after the chaos of the last round and we're left with the final eight teams of the AM Champions League Draft. The first of these quarterfinals will be between @A_G with his AGFC team and @Uncle Good-Advice and @SA Gunner managing FC SUAGA.

AGFC were the winners of the league element and therefore claimed top seed to go with a first round bye. This is their line up for the quarter final match up.

Meanwhile after their last gasp victory over @Clrnc city it's back to the same formation that FC SUAGA deployed during the league format.

Ok so the record for the season was:
SUA 3 - 0 AG
AG 2 - 1 SUA

There was a lot of needle in the build up to this one. @Uncle Good-Advice caused bedlam when he said they were going to try and put some tough tackles in on Ronaldinho who didn’t even play for AGFC.

@A_G wasn’t going to let this go though and immediately ran and snitched on them for threatening what was the greatest player on the greatest team in all of football, the mighty Sauce Squad.

Unfortunately Rex and @Trilly were too busy on a mission to Paris to notice or care. No, not scouting PSG players but strutting the catwalks instead.

Once the game arrived there was madness in the tunnel. @Uncle Good-Advice had doubled down in his final press conference by calling Vinicius Jr soft and Godín a dirty c*nt then even saying his opponent was frightened of SUAGA.

This all boils over in the tunnel when the teams are lined up. Before the refs have even made their way in there’s carnage. Davids and Suárez start swinging at each and although it’s not caught on camera as @Uncle Good-Advice and @SA Gunner leave their dressing room Vinicius Jr absolute covers them in a dish of Feijoada!

Teams are dragged apart and enter a fired up San SUAGA with a crowd hungry for blood.

SUAGA come out swinging in both sense of the word, five minutes in and when an AGFC attack breaks down some sharp passing releases a “Flying Dutchman” Danny Blind into the opposition half.
He plays a quick ball out to Thierry Henry lurking on the left wing. The king feints left as the ball comes to him but quickly cuts right.

Even the great Javier Zanetti is caught off balance. Henry gets it out of his feet and hits it low with curve towards the far post and....

SCORESSSSSSSSSSS!!!

The stands erupt and the SUAGA players run up the sideline to celebrate with Henry. As he runs past a seated @A_G it seems Marcelo has a few choice words for him. Nothing fazes the AGFC manager and he gives a quizical look back at him.

SUAGA are in total ascendancy and they're absolutely penning AGFC in. The visitors can't get Messi on the ball at all and when he does receive it he can't escape the restless shadowing of Kanté. Their midfield can't get close to Xavi, De Bruyne and a deep Luis Suárez pinging the ball about.

30 minutes in and yet another laboured AGFC is broken up by Kanté, Henry is released into acres of space down the left with Zanetti left in his wake, he cuts inside but rather than smash it from the edge of the box he slips in Shevchenko with a wonderful disguised pass...

And the poacher...

HITS THE POST!!

The fans were up ready to celebrate as were the SUAGA managers. What a let off for AGFC!

Just before half time we have our first blow up of the game. A ridiculously late challenge from Godín on De Bruyne brings a furious Thiago Silva and Blind to their Belgian playmaker's defence. After a lot of barking and shoving Godín is shown a yellow card and the half comes to a tempestuous end.

Second half underway and an unbelievable substitution is made by @A_G. Yes he's been struggling to contain Henry but there's shock when the right pack superstar Zanetti doesn't come out to join his teammates, but instead his compatriot Mauro Icardi walks onto the pitch.

It seems the team shifts to a back 3 of Fabinho, Sammer and Godín while Vinicius Jr and De Boer go to wing backs. AGFC are totally selling out to get an away goal at all costs, but any semblance of midfield control has been totally lost.

Davids is overran every time SUAGA get on the ball and just 10 minutes into the second half he's robbed by Xavi with the two AGFC wing backs pushed way ahead of the ball. A quick pass to De Bruyne and it's a shooting gallery in midfield, with no pressure on him and a 3 vs 3 for SUAGA he plays a sumptuous through ball that cuts out two defenders.

Shevchenko rushes onto it between Sammer and an onrushing Kahn... and...

It's 2-0 to SUAGA and if AGFC aren't careful the tie could be over tonight. They've offered next to nothing and are getting annihilated on the counter every time they lose the ball.

His work done from left midfield, Kevin De Bruyne is replaced by first half instigator Marcelo as SUAGA look to shore up the left side with a natural defender. With Suarez still thriving in the space between defenders and midfielders they also swap Henry out for Juan Mata to ensure De Bruyne's playmaking isn't missed.

With SUAGA looking to take some of the sting out of the game there's some areas that AGFC can work the ball into. One of them is the feet of Lionel Messi, he slips Marcelo who's not fully up to speed with the game and goes down over the dangling leg of Lucio about 35 yards from goal.

The great man takes the ball and stands over the free kick, it's probably too far from goal and not at a great angle for him. The AGFC center backs come up and Messi floats a ball into the box...

There's a header and....

GOALLLLLLLLLLL!!!

Didier-Drogba_1917836.jpg

AWAY GOAL FOR AGFC!

The Drog gets a gravity defying leap over Lucio and thanks to an incredible ball from Messi who drops the ball on his forehead, he powers a header into the smallest gaps between the glove of a diving Buffon and the angle of crossbar and post. He scoops the ball out of the net and he's given AGFC an absolutely priceless away goal.

@A_G knows now is the time to attack and throws on mercurial magic man Pablo Aimar to try and push to square the tie on the night and somehow despite the SUAGA dominance escape with a draw.

Soon though the game seems to be drifting and with 5 minutes left it looks like both teams are happy to take the result. That is until Messi plays a one-two with Aimar and quick as a flash he's past two SUAGA players...

He sells a dummy so fierce that Lucio almost loses his balance...

Into the penalty area now...

Cuts back away from Thiago Silva...

Shapes to shoot but squares it instead for....

ICARDIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII

A goal for substitute Icardi but it was all down to Messi! A magical assist, he's single handedly ripped the dominant SUAGA to shreds and carved out two huge assists to completely flip this tie late on. Now it's advantage AGFC!

Meanwhile @A_G goes wild on the bench...

One last throw of the dice and an exhausted Shevchenko is swapped out for the dynamic Giuly moving the elder statesman Suarez up top. In the final minute Giuly manages to slip past an isolated Vinicius Jr and stands a hopeful ball into the box.

A scrambling Sammer gets a head on it but it loops to Marcelo on the left side edge of the box. One on one with a quick choice to make, Fabinho shows him inside off natural his left foot.

Marcelo accepts the challenge and with his right he bends the ball towards goal....

AND HE SCORESSSSSSSSSS

DcIk6aZXcAMH0PM

WINNER FOR FC SUAGA! 3-2 AND THE HOME TEAM COME BACK WITH THE LAST KICK OF THE GAME!

It had to be that man Marcelo, beefing the opposition manager and left for dust by Messi for both goals but he who laughs last, laughs loudest and there's nothing later than a last second winner. SUAGA have snatched back victory and take a goal advantage away for the second leg!

It finishes SUAGA 3 - 2 Messi
