Yeah Martial's never really struck me as a striker, far better wide-left for me.
Hmm, more of an left inside forward. He needs to face the goal. His body doesn't allow for a strict 9 or lone striker role without a reference player.

We should do that with Ox and he should've been playing that role from the get go.

Think we just need to give up our 'world class striker' search, because it's not going to happen, for whatever reason.

Lacazette will enable us to play fluid, fast paced attacking football again - like we saw with Walcott up front last season. I can't wait any longer to replace Giroud, I just want this suffering to end.

That's the problem really, we sign Lacazette, Wenger will just play him in the flanks and keep Giroud in the middle. Just like how he treated Walcott and Welbeck. Vardy was smart enough to recognize that and that's why he stayed in Leicester.

Walcott just does not have the intelligence to play through the middle, he is a winger and a questionable one at that. Welbeck played through the middle for us this season when Giroud was in an out of the team midway till he got injured. Any player would be crazy to turn us down on a flimsy assumption that they would be played out wide, he has to have had other reasons for doing so.

Walcott was given every oppurtunity starting up front . He just couldn't score regularly . Vardy would have played off Giroud at worst as an inside forward at times . Other times he would have started as the lone .

IMO Walcott just wasn't used properly at CF. Cant play walcott and expect him to do the same job as Giroud. The style wasnt changed to play to his one strength.

IMO yeah he was and we did play to his strength , the amount of chances he had in those games plays that out . Our midfield stopped functioning when Santi got injured but before that we moved the ball quickly to him .

We can't change our style for one player. Just does not make sense. Furthermore most teams sit real deep when they play against us and Walcott just struggles against tactics of those nature.

If we cant change our style for one player then why do we need a CF then. Lets just continue with Giroud and the existing style that's working.

From the Telegraph article.

Arsène Wenger is understood to have met with the representatives of Alexandre Lacazette to discuss a deal to sign the highly-rated Lyon striker.

Bids for Lacazette from West Ham United and Paris St-Germain have already been turned down by the French club but Arsenal have now expressed an interest.

Wenger is in France to work as a pundit during Euro 2016 and was in Lyon to watch France’s last-16 tie against the Republic of Ireland.

PSG are believed to have offered even more for Lacazette but the forward is less keen to move to another French club having spent all his career with Lyon where he grew up. There has also been interest from Atlético Madrid but no bid so far.

It seems highly unlikely that Arsenal would make a bid of £40 million, but Wenger is in discussions as he considers options to improve his forward line.

Lazacette stated in an interview earlier this year with Telegraph Sport that he was looking for a move to the Premier League.

Since then, however, Lyon have qualified for the Champions League.

Based on the current players we have, Giroud is the best option we have up front. Changing tactics for a player who is possibly more suspect than him would be a questionable decision. Regardless changing the team play for 1 player is detrimental overall, because you are 1 injury away from having a team that won't function. Just look at how much our team play suffered when we lost Cazorla during the season.

We changed it for Fabregas- and haven't changed it back despite it being awful

Arsenal Quotes

Everybody knows how much I love Arsenal - I became a fan. And to be out here [in front of the Emirates as a statue] celebrating a goal against Sp*rs, there's not much else to say after that. Like I've said before: Once a Gooner, always a Gooner.
