Arsenal v Manchester United Match Ratings

Almunia 8 - Jens was saying that he wasn't really at fault for the first goal so I'll take his word for it. Some great saves later on in the game.

Sagna 6
Toure 7
Djourou 7
Gibbs 5 - Hopefully he can push on from today and not dwell on it. Bad mistake and it did cost us the game.

Walcott 5 - Showed heart but couldn't do anything right. United doubled up on him and he didn't have the skill to find a way around that.
Fabregas 7
Song 7
Nasri 8 - Best thing to come out of the game today. Brilliant performance when he was left to roam.

Van Persie 6 - Poor against a great defence.
Adebayor 5 - Poorer against a great defence.

Subs: Eboue 6 Bendtner 7 Vela 6

First ratings I've done for a while, but I'm annoyed enough to do it.

Almunia - 6 - Some good stops, poor positioning and too quick to go to ground for the goals.

Sagna - 4 - Will the Sagna from last season please stand up?

Gibbs - 4 - That slip destroyed him, poor lad.

Toure - 5 - Meh.

Djourou - 4 - Meh, should have taken Cronaldo out for the 3rd.

Song - 4 - Had minimal impact.

Cesc - 6 - Where was the inspirational captain's performance we were crying out for? Gets a +1 for winning the penalty.

Nasri - 7 - Our best player on the night, inventive and actually looked like he cared.

Theo - 5 - Did ok when he got the ball, but was marked out of the game.

RvP - 4 - Good penalty and had one good shot, did **** all else, just wasn't a threat.

Ade - 2 - Gets a point for each boot lace he managed to tie correctly, cos he did bugger all else right.

Subs:
Eboue - 5 - Actually tried, and won a few free kicks with comical dives.

Bendtner - 7 - Had an impact and showed guts and invention when he came on, should be starting in the withdrawn role.

Vela - 5 - Little time but did actually show a little endevour.

This match was lost at the beginning of the season.

I am tired of having a go at players who don't have it in them

Bendtner, Eboue and Nasri all did ok in my opionion.

And now that I think about it they were our only players to play with any kind of passion or will. The rest looked dead.

My opinion mirrors what most people have already said, so I won't simply repost.

Bendtner looked lively when introduced, and Eboue did better than I expected at LB. Didn't notice much of Vela.

Nasri gets a ten from me.

Cesc was the worst midfielder on the pitch.

Can't be arsed with the rest; just average I suppose.

Captain said:

.

Agree. And he does not deserve to be captain after a game like that, that was a shocking peformance lacking in desire and any character. So far he has not been that convincing as a skipper. That is what happens when you make a 21 year old captain.

Arsenal Quotes

A team can attack for too long. The most opportune time for scoring is immediately after repelling an attack, because opponents are then strung out in the wrong half of the field. All the men are expected to play to plan, but not so as to stifle individuality
