Arsène Wenger: Same Old Class

His responses are usually contradictory, hypocritical, and cliche. Journalists probably don't take him up on some of the rubbish he spouts for fear of antagonizing him.

For example, at the start of the season we were told that being in the Europa League would allows us to rest our key players more frequently subsequently leading to stronger performances in the league. Just after the Newcastle game however, Wenger blames the loss on fatigue.

Which is it?

Arséne is more like Joseph Fritzl.

Been begging him to stop for years now, and yet here we are - still stuck in his dingy cellar knowing that screaming is pointless because no one can hear us.

Everytime we see a glimmer of light, we end up getting ****ed.

In Holland, apparently we don’t do banners or, empty seats.

It’s in Dutch. Ajax just lost the title (came in 2nd), so supporters decided to block the player bus on the way back.

I love comments like this!

When I was doing MDMA back in the days after the roll was down, I usually walked around the bars searching for questionable person to offer a drink in hope he/she would walk with me home just so I could be thinking "is he/she gonna kill me now". I loved the thrill of it!

When confidence is low. It's the defence that suffers first. They have more pressure on them to make split second decisions under duress.

And playing away with an aggressive crowd the problem gets worse.

That's why this forum is full of posts about Mustafi, Xhaka Cech etc being ****.

But the real problem is the dispute between the fans and Wenger/Board. It's no coincidence that we've dropped to our worst position after all those planes, Wenger out memes, demonstrations, Internet/Twitter onslaught.

Whatever the rights and wrongs of the situation its irredeemable. The club cannot continue with Wenger else the players will continue to perform below their real ability.

But it's an irony that as bad as it's been this year for Wenger (worst ever by some way), we're still only a whisker from where Mourinho was last year, with a massive spend. And a lot better than where Mourinho was the year before with a very settled squad. And he didn't have thousands of fans on his back.

Rofl the dispute between fans, wenger and the board started because of **** performances.

You act as if the supporters started protesting when we were top of the league, dominating in the cl. Its everyones fault except for the mighty god and cult leader wenger .

So this is the reason Wenger hasn't got a decent back up for Bellerin? Is it also the reason our midfield lacks discipline and we defend like six year olds on their first day?

Must be the fans.

With the exception of @bingobob maybe, nobody cares about Mourinho and what he did or does in the Arsenal section mate.

Tbf, Wenger is the one who's been buying the players, selecting the team, making the subs, giving the team talks, planning the approach to each game etc etc. You build from the back and Wenger chose to build with a Chelsea reject GK, a kamikaze CB, a has been CB and a couple of okish full backs, none of these would get into the top 4 teams. You cant blame our demise on the fans voicing their opinions, they are doing so because Wenger is making wrong decisions time and time again and has been for the past 2 or 3 seasons.

Must be great for Pep to have England's goalie and reject him. Buy Bravo for £16m and reject him, buy Ederson for £40 million. All within 1 year. And be able to do that for every position on the pitch.

When you make do with a Chelsea reject for £10m, it looks a poor decision in comparison. You're right.

Was curious to see how you’d react to our latest set back but this is genuinely better than expected.

Lovely stuff.
Nothing contentious there. Player confidence may not be as important as player quality but it's certainly in the mix of factors affecting performance.

My point was, with player confidence at an obvious low , hostile fans and with a manager who apparently is as bad as it can get. We're about where United were last season.

But isn't it the fans fault?

This is not about City, it is about Wengers failure to highlight a weakness and fix it. We were told he had money to spend that summer but he only bought Cech despite the weak areas elsewhere. Auba is the first player Wenger has bought for years that looks to fit the bill, Wenger is not the manager he once was and it shows.

Let’s not act like Wenger didn’t just sell the goalkeeper he spent the best part of a decade grooming to be our no.1. Said goalkeeper is now going to take over from Buffon and be Juve’s no.1 but our manager thought he wasn’t good enough for us.

Our keeper situation has been dire for years. Who you trying to fool?
We haven't had a decent keeper until Sneezy went to Roma and picked up some skills... Oh wait, we sold him to keep a rapidly declining Cech.

We've made several purchases which could be bettered too with the same money.... You're not even angling at your own narrative well anymore. It's truly sad.
