Bit like the 4-4 at Newcastle . People thought it was amazing but ignored the display of Phil Dowd.

The Diaby red was unfortunate.

Barton I think made a total sh*thouse lunge and after all the injuries he’d suffered I don’t blame Abou for losing it.

That changed the game.

Both CB's being on yellow cards too, it's just all round naivety as usual from Ajax. They could have killed Chelsea's momentum with some proper game management but no they still try to play their pretty football instead of just keeping the ball or making themselves hard to break down. They did neither and Chelsea could sense something was in the game for them.

In fairness to the second one, that is ridiculous to be booked for that.

Barton also dived for a free kick that led to a goal and neither of the penalties were pens. Dowd was ****ing dreadful

According to Barton himself (so certainly lies) we were gonna sign him in 2011 before he got Gervinho sent off in our game against Newcastle, and the transfer was called off...Gervinho, the hero we needed!

League is very weak
Abraham looks like a top striker in the making. Once Auba leaves I’m pretty sure we’ll sign no one as good as him.

Good player. Was really highly rated as a kid at City.

Tells you about our financial situation though if we were looking at him.
He was always a good player but there is no way Wenger would have taken him whatever the circumstances.

Very glad we got Arteta instead if this is true, which I can't imagine in my wildest dreams being.

I remember at the time, there were rumours. When he was a kid at City, there were links then too.

Bargain hunting in 2011 was horrible, unbelievable how we managed to get Mertesacker and Arteta who'd both end up captaining the club. But then there was still Park and Santos thrown in. Times were tough. All this after losing Nasri and Fabregas in a couple of weeks.

Santos still made some contributions. Scored in the 5-3 at Chelsea and the final day at West Brom that got us top 4. Bit of a nutter, mind.

Per and Arteta were amazing signings considering the state of the club in 2011.
