In The Winchester, Waiting For This To Blow Over

Before Partey and Gabriel the best thing about this team was it’s front line.

This forum has since been caught up in calling them all bad footballers as of late but I blame Arteta and his brand of brexit ball more than anything.

One of our best players isn’t even in the squad anymore, our most dangerous player is putting in tackles nowadays. Another one of our most dangerous players is being told every time he gets the ball he needs to make a difference and is currently riding bench.

They would all work under a different manager and different set up.

Think it's a case of collecting too many players that you only want touching the ball when they are shooting in the box, if we had only one of them we could make it work but we just have an overload of them at this point.

Pepe-Laca-Auba
Özil
...is a good front line on paper (or even in a video game) but in real life there is so many issues...no synergy between the 4 of them really, 1 is past it, neither wingers you want involved in the build up and a striker (along with other flaws in his game) gasses out after an hour max.

It’s fine. Minus Pepe it’s worked for 2 or 3 seasons, it was our defence/midfield that let us down.

End of the season when (hopefully) our attack gets going a lot of people on here will look silly.

It didn't work under Emery, that's for sure....... Emeryball was never the same without Iwobi.

The problem is that it is a good front line......... it is not a great front line. None of the players in that front line is on the level of Sanchez before his decline. None of them is something that the big clubs in europe will fear.

Lacazette had his best season to date under Emery.
Aubameyang was golden boot winner. We can almost safely say neither is being replicated this season.

Iwobi or any sort of ball carrier was a miss admittedly.

Poor player. Only suited for this handbrake tactic that our clueless joke of a coach imposes on the team.

Guendouzi was far better.

Don't wanna act like I wasn't his biggest fan last week but he isn't the level of player to take us where we need. Decent squad option and occasional big game player but he really shouldn't be getting more than 10 starts a season

Let's not get carried away. He was excellent today but Utd midfield was so open that he just had to run the open space. I want to see him open defensive teams and not play sideway passes.
Just dropping it here

He has no place in the first eleven, just a squad player you want to have to close a game with his press.

I'm not blaming him as he gives 100% every game. It is the manager to blame to be stubborn to keep players such as Özil and Guendouzi out of the team.

Stop being reactionary idiots with this guy, we knew all along he wasnt top quality but he was hard working and covers for his partner.

Looking back, he shouldnt be starting at home, more so in games we are expected to sit back in. Ceballos x Partey would have been good at breaking them down and creating.

Lol are people really gonna ignore the fact that he was positionally and defensively better than Partey today and actually one of the main reasons it wasn’t 0-5 or 6?

He did not have a great game but boy he was least of our issues tbh... he literally had no help from Ceballos (tho did make some nice attacks) and Saka as they were both focused on attacking empty spaces and getting caught up the field

He did what he normally does people are just understandably upset and predictably reactionary.

We were well aware of his shortcomings but it doesn’t change the season he’s had and what he’s done right.

He makes a lot more sense in bigger games but against Villa, yeah you’re going to need a bit more. I still think he’s arguably Partey’s best partner but that’s says more about Partey than Elneny who’s always been an enabler.

He was absolutely awful today specially at 2nd half Douglas Luiz gave him so much problems. Wasn't a disaster but his worst game since start of the season
