We could blame Özil for the loss or we could look at how all three of their goals came from the same situtation: a player crossing without pressure to a player unmarked in the box between defenders.

I am not blaming the loss on Özil, but he sure as **** didn't help one bit.

And I agree that all three goals were more of less the same. It's been a way that teams have scored on us for ages. Clearly with the rag tag back line it was worse than normal.

The earliest opportunity on that third goal was with Özil.

If it is an away game start your physical players. It’s criminal that Ramsey wasn’t there. You need to push and shove a lot in these matches. Without that we won’t win anything. Southampton put in three crosses unchallenged. Don’t blame Leno or Koscielny. We allow too many chances by not running hard enough..

Lacazette on the bench is a stupid call. Simple as that. We may have been short at the back but that doesnt excuse our lack of any sort of fluidity in attack. Backwards passes galore as before.

Mkhi is the most frustrating player in this squad alongside Iwobi who is back to his usual form. Purple patch of a handful of games is done. They both need dropped as Emerys lineups are starting to come off over-engineered and slightly egotistical.

This 1st half record is absolutely embarassing.

Auba gets no help. We need wide men who can actually do something with the ball. A good attacking midfielder would also help.

We so, so rarely dominate in games against the smaller teams. It's becoming a real issue.

Still, our back line consisted of a center mid, veteran left back, and a player who hasn't played in months. Struggling in defense is relatively excusable.

They have figured out that if they block our progression down the flanks, and press us in spells, they will nullify us overall.

Not forgetting our poor organisation at the back, and inability to recover our shape fast enough when we lose the ball.

Leno too needs work, his management of the six yard, specifically with aerial balls needs work.

Can anybody tell me why Ramsey didnt play!!? He is probably one of our best players and we really missed him today. We had not presence in midfield and no ideas how to break down Southampton's defence. Really dissapointed in Emery's choice of players!!!
