Depends on how you see it, if we had a player that fit us instead we might be in CL this year. And would have 80 mil to spend somewhere else now. It sets us back buying other players at the minimum. Imagine if we already had a quality attacker and could buy a elite midfielder instead

He did fine. Not a massive flop imo. Its not his fault that we paid crazy money for him. Not sure Mudryk will reach these numbers.

Problem with pepe wasn’t his numbers. It’s how little he did outside those stats. Also we needed more from him than he gave because auba and laca were in free fall. Wonder how he’d have done coming off the bench this season as an impact player. We’ll never know.

Yeah mostly agree but we wouldn't have 80m to spend elsewhere - we'd only have the difference between the other player we bought and the price of Pepe. Forwards that period:

Think he is finished as a player tbh, not looking great for him in France.

Pepe before he was ruined by Arteta would be a useful player to have in rotation with the current group, probably better than spending a fortune on some guy we have no idea about.

Yeah fair point, which I guess is why they're not willing to shell out 80m for him. Can't see it being less than 60m though which is still a big risk.
