I think that's why Arteta signs these versatile players anyways, Havertz was touted to open up possibilities tactically for Arteta and to be fair to the pair of them they've done exactly that.

"Leverkusen Kai" was more imposed by the media and youtube experts out there. Mouth pieces like The Athletic did lean into it as well I suppose.

It’s an art. It was a tight game though and had that happened on the other end we’d have been livid.

The only thing I question was why the delayed article? It’s old news so there’s clearly an agenda.

I dunno man, if you watch it again you can clearly see some contact, does he go down easily? Sure but to receive a yellow for simulation that would have had him sent off? No way.

Versatility can be both a superpower and a curse. I struggle to appreciate versatile players because I assume that these players are not good enough to hold down one position. It's okay to have one or two in the squad but anything more than results in the squad becoming bloated.

But you are correct, Arteta was lucky that he found another way to utilize him.
"Lucky" in the same way like I was when I said White can become the RB when Saliba comes back.

Or when I said I see Havertz as a rotational false 9/AMF for a title challenging team.

Both suggestions got laughed at here.

Surely Arteta and Edu can't scout the players they buy, if even I can see their likely plans.

No, it's "luck".

Its actually the opposite. The presence of multi-position players across the whole squad reduces the need for specialists in every position, so you can have a functional, modern squad with 15-16 players vs. the Chelsea and Man City of the past who had 2 world class players in every position.

He has everything but the clinical ball striking in front of goal (like all of our strikers tbf ) if he could ever improve in that regard to be more consistent which is obviously the hardest thing to do as a striker then we could really have something.

24 is no age for a big CF people like Kane and Haaland are freaks in that regard most big early goal scorers are the smaller quick players but they fade quicker. Drogba for example didn't score 20 league goals until 28/29 and had his best season at 32/33.

I think he proven again he best position is CF if he preforming very well there no need for Mikel to be stubborn about playing him LCM we can use him there when we want to close games and add physicality in midfield.

He's coming into form and importantly confidence at the right time of the season for us, that needs to continue of course. What also needs to continue, is his chemistry with our other forwards and midfielders, particularly Trossard, Jesus and Jorginho.

Taking advantage of Havertz movement off the ball will be one of the important things for us getting over the line this season I'd say.

The only thing I love about him is his durability. That was Xhaka's superpower too. To be clear, I still don't like him as a signing and as a player for that matter

He has 12 games maybe 14 to show us he can start for us. That goal last night should be like his bread and butter in the league.
