Unlike xG which compares the shot taken to historical shots taken from that location, xGoT actually measures the quality of the shot itself.

Saka's goal against Chelsea for example, the xG for a shot from there is historically very low but considering it went right in the top corner it has a very high xGoT value and so you'd expect it to go in.

If you look at the xGoT a goalkeeper has faced and compare it to how many goals they've actually conceded you get an almost perfect value of how good they are at stopping the goal from going into the net.
