FA Investigating Over Suspicious Betting Pattern during an Arsenal match

I read the article and like you, I didn't see the point in this.
So the Xhaka booking, which all the money went on and which has sparked the investigation, has everything to do with everyone else… but the player? How can anyone else be guilty of anything without the player being their accomplice? What would be the point of an investigation?

You can't take random Twitter accounts as gospel.

If these people believe they have information that Xhaka is involved in illegal behaviour, the police are the ones that need informing not their Twitter followers.

🤣 It’s nothing like it. It’s one of two things, either it’s an incredible and extremely unlikely coincidence or it was criminal activity. It’s as simple as that.

They definitely made a market on this one (bullet 3a).

Don't disagree with your two proposed impetuses for the bet / yellow, though

Are my eyes that bad or is that text really really small? I can’t even read it when I zoom on my phone 🤣
"Where customers bet with each other on the Exchange, Betfair acts as a facilitator and does not act as a counterparty. However, Betfair may act as a counterparty on the Exchange but only in the following limited situations:

....
  • occasionally (and such bets represent a tiny fraction of the overall volume of betting activity on the Exchange), in one of the two following circumstances:
    • on less liquid markets to improve “liquidity” and stimulate market activity (“liquidity” is the amount of money available for you to bet on each selection). We may do this on ancillary markets (particularly when the market is first made available) or on markets on less popular events. The rationale for providing this liquidity is to enhance the betting proposition for our customers; and in order to reduce the Betfair group’s liability against a particular outcome. We may do this on a high-profile event where our sportsbook has a very large exposure to that outcome"

I’m reading this absolute shyte from some rags and I have no idea where they’re getting it from

Another bizarre aspect of the incident was that the odds offered on the betting exchange for Xhaka being booked were higher in the final 10 minutes than they had been before kick-off, which also prompted integrity concerns.

There is nothing bizarre or concerning about the odds of something happening being bigger nearer the end of a game than before the game. If the odds on him being booked for in the final ten minutes were shorter than before kickoff, that would be further cause for concern. You haven’t got to be a betting expert to know that ffs 🤦🏼‍♂️

I don’t know what the price is usually on a player getting booked in the last 10 minutes is, but I can only conclude that his price was very short at 3.2 compare to any other player for that period of the game. That would be concerning.

Maybe they're comparing the odds before the game that Xhaka would get booked in the final ten minutes to the in-game odds after 80 minutes. I'm not sure you can actually bet on something so specific but in that case it would make sense that the odds should be higher for the pre-game bet.

Yes there is/was a pre match market for him to be booked in the final ten minutes and his odds were actually higher before kickoff then they were in the final ten minutes. I’m think they got the two factors mixed up, but there’s no way in any normal circumstances that the in/game odds market for such a thing happening would higher before kickoff than in the last ltrm minutes.

Poor Yuriy, still clutching at straws of this fake news of "Xhaka under investigation". Doing anything possible with this hypocrisy to pin this on Xhaka, when it was announced that Xhaka is NOT under investigation.

Though you said you'd give him a pass
I’m even willing to give him a pass for his spot fixing. Can’t say fairer than that.

What’s hypocritical about it? 😵‍💫

I was just replying/explaining something to jones. As I’ve said, being a betting skank is fair game in my book 👍🏼

What’s a ‘Yuriy’?
