Yep. Sokratis and Luiz are Mustafi Mk 2 and 3. They might be better players but always liable to do something stupid. Add Xhaka to that.

He didn’t play him there out of fear, if so he would have told him to sit deep with Xhaka and go for the long ball up the field.

He tried to play him there to win possession high up the pitch and create high quality chances against an un-settled defence. Where he ****ed up was in not realising that there’s no need for that kind of set up if you’re going to dominate possession like we did.

If I accept your view, why did it take him 63 minutes to correct that mistake? Because that’s when he subbed Ceballos in for Torreira. He effectively handicaped us for 2/3 of the match.
