Yeah this is crap. They could absolutely call back down to say they made a mistake like that. The fact that it was actually onside should trump every other technicality.
Especially considering how they've no problem holding up the game for 10 minutes to check if an Arsenal goal should stand when half an hour earlier we mightve pulled a defenders shirt for a second.

Even before you talk about overruling the earlier call what kind of processes do you have where one guy on a screen can make a wrong call like that based on a misunderstanding? How is it possible this guy checks a goal and finishes the check within seconds? Why the rush for anyway if he thought the goal stood a teams celebration takes at least a minute or two?

There are professions which don't allow for human error and you just don't see any mistakes there or if you do they're very rare. It's not a question of either or nor is there an honest error here this just an incestuous bunch of bald headed criminals who are both inept and corrupt.

Liverpool reminds me of Arsenal 2000 to 2005 , just as good with 10 men . Hilariously we beat them 2-0 in Anfiield with 10 men after losing a man when we were 1-0 up

Their ability to be so direct, combined with top class finishing will always make them a very big threat.

They may not be as balanced as City or even Arsenal, but their attack is the best overall, and that’s what makes the contenders.

It's probably quite hard being a ref,but these guys make it look WAY harder than it is...they always cry about being abused, they literally make mistakes like this ffs!

Is being an absolute idiot like a must when you try to become a football official...they all come across like Father Dougal McGuire ffs 🤣

It’s their attack. So direct and they have the players to find them with one or two passes.

Yeah once it's 10 it's simplified for them , direct ball and their forwards have pace and power to exploit space . Insane amount of red cards they have accumulated though . Honestly don't care about them worst fanbase along with old Chelsea .

But the thing is, if I was a ref and I was fixing a result in one team’s favour I would never use something as cut/dried as this.

You can call/not call penalties and easily swing a game that way because there’s so much grey area there, and same with carding players. The Van Persie red was garbage, but it was garbage that a corrupt ref could still defend by the letter of the law.

This is just … a clownshow. The absolute best-case you get from intentionally ignoring protocols in such a big game like this to fix a black/white decision is that you get branded incompetent and suspended and risk your job. [There is no defensibility for it and it’s hard to imagine anyone trying to be cunning enough to fix results would go that route … which makes me lean toward the ridiculous incompetence explanation actually being true.

So freaking weird.
The thing is they do it week in week out and nobody loses their job. I think the 'fOrGoT tO dRaW tHe LiNeS' guy got made an example of, but I've not heard of it happening to anyone else.

I'd like to see how these bald t0$$€rs would react if their surgeons were this 'incompetent'. People will say you can't compare the two because one is a much greater responsibility, but if you think of the hundreds of millions of pounds at stake here it is absolutely is a huge responsibility.

It’s fairytale stuff right now for Sp**s. It’s going to run out eventually and they will regress to mean. This could be a 4th place spot though considering how terrible United and Chelsea are right now.

I can understand why fans think there's corruption with refereeing, the standard is so poor.

Realistically though if you were trying to covertly manipulate the result of a match the last thing you'd do is something so obviously wrong and attention worthy as that VAR fiasco.

The explanation given is totally believable to me. The officials are that incompetent and clown like

A coupe of piss easy fixtures coming up for them will probably see them sit comfortably at the top of the table tho. That + the feel good factor around the team and manager could elevate them like it did for us last season.

They’ll not win the league obviously but they might be a real problem. 5-2-0 having played 3 of the projected top teams already, is very impressive.

Besides City they are the best offensive team in the league, they can create so many chances out of nothing but their midfield Is non-existent and Van Dijk is getting worse at defending, soon many teams will find out their attacking patterns and beat them at their precious so called fortress ground and their fans will be in very much tears.

They will fall away once they lose away to Southampton in the FA cup third round, then having no real tactics bar saying "mate" every other word won't help them as they slide down the table 👍
