Thought Nasri was, again, our best player. He's adding consistency to his game now.

Song & Squillachi were poor, Andrey was worse. Thought Denilson did ok. He did what he always does, keeps the ball moving, plays it simple.

Poor performance but on the night, the result we wanted. Thought Sagna's red was debatable (definate foul but was he last man with no hope of anyone getting back?)

Thought it was a pretty poor performance overall by most players. Some credit to Sagna, Eboue, Nasri and Walcott but apart from that it wasn't all that.

Denilson was too sloppy, conceded possession too often but in his defence the pressure was on him to be our creative spark and unsurprisingly he didn't deliver. Van Persie in the hole was plain awful but he still showed his class occasionally. Chamakh moved around well but had an embarassing first touch, Song was like he's always been this season and our central defenders were just meh.

Fabianski 6

Sagna 7
Squillaci 6
Koscielny 6
Eboue 6.5

Song 5
Denilson 5
Van Persie 6

Nasri 7
Chamakh 5
Arshavin 4

Walcott 6 - Lovely finish by the way

Interestingly the rules doesn't say anything about being the last man. They do state that it's a sending off for denying someone an obvious goal-scoring opportunity, however. It's a bit ambiguous, but one could make a case for the referee. Personally I thought it was poor judgment, especially as it happened outside the area and wouldn't have changed much anyway. This kind of thing seems to happen regularly in Champions League this season. UEFA need to tell the referees to calm down a bit.

I thought Kos was solid in the defence again, by the way. He took a lot of responsibility when Song went AWOL in midfield too by stepping up and either making an interception or putting in an early foul so they couldn't get a counter-attack going.

Well I thought Kos was mainly at foult for the goal. He tried to intercept the ball but Moreira flicked it to the Cleo for a one-two and then Squillaci had to cover the run from Moreira before he reilized Cleo would shoot. But it was too late.

Other than that Kos did mostly solid. He's very good at interceptions, but of course it's dangerous when it fails.

Dude, no way was RVP the best player in our midfield today. Not his fault though, SINCE HE IS A FORWARD

It's incredibly frustrating as a fan to watch the mistakes in these games over and over again.

That was such a poor team we were playing tonight in a must win game and we made a right meal of it again.

We all know as soon as we meet anyone half decent were going to get beat because we ate so shockingly bad at the back it's embarrassing and nothing is being done to rectify it.

We were lazy and complacent yet again.

Having said all of that. We got the win and at least live to fight another day

Unfortunately Klaus as you say referees do tend to interpret that rule as last man - as opposed to denying clear goal scoring opportunity. Thinking of Lehman in Paris for one..

A fit and on form RvP is more than capable of playing that AM role.

Again, that would be implying he was solid more than once!?

I can't believe this guy gets played in our defence, he's shocking.

He created quite a few chances with his flicks and touches. He can do much better even when played in midfield but he did more than Song and Denilson.

Another crap home performance. No midfield, crap centre backs and creating no chances for long spells.

Yeah these players excel when Cesc isn't around...

What he did was slow our play down almost every time, and you are dead wrong.

Lets make peace with the fact that we drawing Barcelona.

My man of the match, Alexandre Song. From a mediocre first half he really did well for me in the second.

Good win overall, but our defense still leaves a lot to be desired. We better take our chances against United.
