That's more up @lomekian alley tbh
tbf the ones that left us for nothing in recent years really have been crap! If ACD or Walters leaves without a fee, particularly Walters, that will be a failing of the club. That said, City & Chelsea have had the same problem a lot in recent years.

If we were still ****, I'm sure Walters and ACD would have had a look by now - though not bringing Walters on in the Lens home game was an error in my view.

One of the things in football I enjoy the most is academy players breaking through. It's so cool to see a player develop into a top player before your eyes. Unfortunately, Arteta doesn't come through in that department at all. It makes sense to develop an academy player behind Saka, because who can you buy that has the quality and the patience to play second fiddle behind Saka? I fear Arteta is running Saka into the ground and he should've used the opportunity to develop ACD behind him to rest him when possible.

Based on the highlights I've seen of ACD I would be happy to see him go to Ajax, so I can see him develop there. He would do well to get the hell out if he wants a chance to play.

Tbh none of the current guys are ready for that level. Looking back, it makes me appreciate Saka even more. The most talented from this crop both U18 and U21 are Nwaneri, Skelly and Monlouis

100% 17 year old saka would not be near the first team under Arteta. And no one was saying give saka a chance before Emery did. Sometimes young players surprise you. 9/10 there is much safer bet in the first team than young talent. Like Amrabat instead of mainoo at United

I think they were negligent because they assumed he would sign without actually doing the work to prepare him for first team football. He'll be 19 by the time he makes his debut and will be behind players around his group despite his potential. He should have signed in the Summer and been on loan. Then we wouldn't be talking about not giving him opportunities- we'd have a clearer idea of how good he can be.

I don't know man, Saka was on fire in the academy. That whole group were killing it. Joe Willock, Balogun, Smith, John Jules, Amaechi... They played electric football and were just crushing teams. None of these current batch really dominate U18 and U21 football like those guys did. Reiss Nelson also made that level look like child's play at 17. I like Duberry, but he has not shown that type of dominance. Closest are Skelly for his physicality and athleticism and Nwaneri for his composure and technique. But even both of those guys have not shown the consistency yet.

Again you can find a reason not to promote every youngster. But if you can promote a player or two and make atleast a squad player of then it saves you a lot of money. We are in a time where 30-40 million gets you an average pl player. This is where academy and coaching becomes big. But with the ffp now I think suddenly a lot of clubs will look more into their academies

Just freaking promote him to be sakas understudy. What’s the point of academy if no one gets promoted.

I think we'll see this more and more. As we sign world class players, the eye of the needle will be smaller and smaller. It will only be the very very best that will come through, and we will lose players that will go on to become very good.

I'm not sure how you can land this.

Still hasn’t agreed a deal with anyone yet
Which means we're still a strong option for him, arguably the strongest. I think he should consider his options well because signing for us could mean not playing much football if he sticks around - unless we have a plan that includes first team football, either on loan or here. I think a preseason to impress followed by a decision of loan or backup is the way to go here IF he signs with us. With Euros and Copa America happening this Summer, there'll probably be more academy players than usual. Lewis-Skelly and Nwaneri are a given so will be nice if Cozier-Duberry can join them.

That said, his smartest decision is probably to go if he isn't gonna be offered the above. I'd consider abroad if I was him. Newcastle aren't gonna offer him much better than what we can offer which will probably be a loan or a backup spot. Dortmund and PSV seem to like him.

There have been many, many opportunities for Teta to give Cozier-Duberry a chance to play but he hasnt played a second for the senior team this season. Elneny and Soares, on the other hand, has played more than 1 hour. Dont talk about "world class players", the manager refuse to use the Hale End kids since he doesnt like them. He is a control freak and its difficult to control youngsters that he barely know. People can try to glorify his approach all they want but most of us know that this is the truth.
We dont have many "world class players" btw. 1 or 2 i guess.

Still, it is a different situation to when we used to end 8th etc.

The thing is. Arteta did play a Hale End kid this season in the Carabao but it wasn't Amario Cozier-Duberry. It was Charles Sagoe Jr, a decent talent in his own right but if we're keeping it a stack, Cozier-Duberry has been the more eye-catching talent of the two. Arteta liked Sagoe Jr - most probably because he can play across the front and is a solid technical dribbler. He made his choice then and I still think it was the wrong one, even though Sagoe Jr was still OK on the day and did quite well.

I think because of physicality he chose the far lesser talent. ACD would ruin his career if he stayed. I would argue even nwaneri is better of leaving soon. But that’s too early. I just don’t see Arteta giving academy kids a chance
