Why do we need someone to do defensive work? How many top teams do you see in the CL with cloggers dedicated just to that.
The best teams win the ball back with pressing and off the ball work. Modric and Kroos just won a CL as a midfield duo.
A striker, pure 10 & two attack minded wide players is quite rare. Then our open style & prone to being countered its hard to put too much blame on central midfield & defenders. Hector & Coq put out so many fires even against poor opposition.
Our pressing is awful, unorganised & often just a waste of energy.
