And R9 who until the knee went was the best of them all.
I had a brief debate with a few peeps on here trying to say that peak R9 was the most phenomenal footballer in terms of raw attributes that I have ever seen. I put him above Messi. Got shot down by a trademark @jones smackdown but I stand by it. The guy moved me.

Nobody can name a footballer they've seen who had as much in his locker as pre injury R9. Faster than Mbappe and Henry. Stronger than Haaland and Drogba. Could dribble through everyone like Maradona. Two footed close control and the ability to get wherever he wanted immediately like Zidane. Finally, he was as clinical as anyone with either foot from any angle and dribbled the keeper to score more than some World Class players have goals to their name. The only weakness at all in his game was that he wasn't the best in the air but he didn't need to be because he was a threat from anywhere on the pitch both on the ball and in space.

The guy at Barca and Inter until the moment the knee injury happened has never been bettered before or since IMO. He was like someone built the perfect footballer in a lab. Unlike so many others as well where you see the argument about his competition, this is a guy who was butchering the best CBs in the World, some of whom are among the best CBs in history every week when he was a teenager. Mbappe can give you a tough time. R9 destroyed players like Maldini, Nesta and Thuram in their primes before he turned 20. Then after the first 2 knee injuries he was still ruining Rio Ferdinand level defenders on one leg. He was just different gravy. Nobody else could have 2 knee injuries that the top specialists said would end his career, come back at 80% of what they were and still be the best player in the world, still be the best striker in history.

Needless to say, he moved me too. He'll always be my GOAT. I was a little fat kid stuck in central defense who didn't even like football until the first time I saw him play and I fell in love and would try to emulate him every day in the back yard and practice until I lost weight and became a striker myself. I had the Mercurials, I even snuck my Dad's clippers and gave myself the stupid hair cut for the World Cup Final. He was my hero. Even now when I score in pickup games I do his celebrations. I've never loved any player like him so I understand. It was like a spiritual experience watching him at his best.

I thought you didn’t like bad boys?

Revised list just for you.

1. Pele
2. R9
3. Garrincha
4. Zico
5. Neymar
6. Romario
7. Ronaldinho
8. Jairzinho
9. Socrates
10. Rivaldo

How many of these players have you actually watched?

If you had actually watched them you wouldn't be placing Neymar ahead of Ronaldinho. Especially since Ronaldinho's game is modelled on Garrincha.

Both French player are better than the Brazilian's ones in this case.

- Mbappe (TOP20 OAT)
- Henry (TOP30 OAT)
- Neymar (TOP40 OAT)
- Ronaldinho (TOP50 OAT)

The same away Platini (TOP10 OAT) was better than Zico (TOP20 OAT) back in the day, tho the difference is closer.
