There was a time when our hopes almost rested on Theo. He was very highly rated by the fan base. Scorer of huge goals. Huge. You could never call him a bottler, that's for sure. Had more in that department than players like RvP etc.
What annoys me about his departure is that Wenger spent YEARS messing around with him. "Oh, I think he will be a great striker." -- No you don't Arsène. Tell the kid, he can't hold up the ball so he can't play up top, he should just stick on the wing and score goals that way. It's all this messing around with young players (Ox as CM is another example). Waste of time and effort.

Theo did as well. I just remember the high profile chokes of RvP more than I do Theo.
Did we/he just take the opportunity to leave when it came? Get the sense from his sale that we're not going to be seeing a two striker system that we'd all like. Surely you'd keep Theo as back up if that were the case?

The vast majority of big memorable moments post-stadium move involves Walcott in more ways than just him being on the pitch. Some of the best goals, greatest upsets etc. directly involved him.
Shame his career petered out towards the end of his Arsenal career, but to somehow pretend like he was a nothing player is not fair and reeks of recency bias.

There's tons of that concerning Arsenal players. Even going back to the days of Almunia. People have completely erased the fact that the Emirates used to sing 'Almunia for England'. We thought he was great, once. Because it ended badly, he was always sh!t! The list goes on, believe me!
