The stone that the builders refuse
So the DM is reporting that Snachez is saying he'll be fit for Uruguay on Tuesday but Arsenal want him to come home to North London pronto.

Get him home Arsène but good luck trying...

When is Perez coming back?
Perez, who joined the Gunners for a fee of around £17million in the summer, has returned to his former club Deportivo La Coruna for more rehab.

The 28-year-old Spaniard picked up a knock in Arsenal’s EFL Cup victory over Reading last month and is expected to return to action in December.

‘Happy that Arsenal and Deportivo have accepted to come to return to Coruna,’ Perez told his followers on Twitter on Wednesday evening.

Alexis is quoted by the Mirror as saying to Chilean newspaper El Mercurio:

“It is hurting a bit but I’m fine. I’ll be back for Tuesday.”

That's a bit weird isn't it?

Is he homesick?

I think that's interesting enough to be transferred over to Lucas' own thread for further discussion...

Alexis Sanchez willing to risk re-injury ahead of Arsenal's clash with Man United by playing for Chile with quad tear

Alexis will undergo more tests on Wednesday but the same source said "luckily, they tell us that it's superficial and he could recover quickly."

But injury experts consulted by Chilean media weren't so optimistic about Sanchez and whether there may be repercussions to playing him in Tuesday's game - not least the threat of missing Arsenal's trip to Manchester United next Saturday.

"There is some debate over how to manage these sorts of injuries," said Mario Vera, a leading doctor

"The traditionalists would say that something like this takes three weeks, but a modernist would say that their rehab could fix it sooner.

"One thing is clear: he won't be fit [if he plays] and there could be recurrences.

"In the case of Alexis, without knowing all of the details, it's probable that they get him ready to play in the game against Uruguay but he will go onto that field injured.

"The muscle will be more fragile, he would certainly have to play with medication to aid the symptoms."

It's an international break, he's injured and so makes sense maybe - Arsenal must trust him and Deportivo's doctors to do the right thing.

Mainly makes sense if he's homesick and wants to see his family, get better weather, food, lifestyle etc

Should hopefully aid his transition to the new country and league.

I know people like Mertesacker go back to their homeland when they're out for a long time. t's just a bit weird to go back to the club that you were purchased from so quickly, especially when he's supposed to be back next month...

Arsenal would be hypocrites to complain about him playing in this Chile game when they did the same with him against Norwich last season. If they managed him properly themselves, they'd absolutely be within their rights to be livid...

Wenger should put his foot down and withdraw him. We pay the man a lot of money to be fit and perform for us. We are under no obligation to risk him for Chile.

Aaand all hope of he resigning would go out the window. Yeah it's annoying but his disire to win is what makes him so great to us but that also applies for his country. He'll the man has 101 caps for Chile at 27, playing for his country is very important to him and Wenger/the club trying to put their foot down would be all bad.

I hope Wenger is flying over there as we speak. Alexis can't risk further injury because he wants to play for Chile. If he does this, and gets injured, he'll go down a lot in my regard. A player that does this is making himself a liability for us.

We pay him his wages and Alexis declared himself fit .

Paying someone's wages doesn't make it right to mismanage their health and fitness, especially when it costs the team and paying customers later in the season. Also, The Ox and Campbell were on the bench. They might not be the best players, but the reckless way in which people insist on Alexis starting every 'must-win' game suggests that such players are at the level of a Chris Kiwomya or Ian Selley...

The excuse that Alexis declared himself fit is a fairly weak one for me. He'd played a ridiculous amount of football over the summer without a proper break and he strained his hamstring before the game. It is well known that he always wants to play. It was November, with many important games coming up. There were 2 adequate replacements and it was the perfect time to rest Alexis, they even dropped 2 points in the game anyway...

Chile is his national side and have every right to play him. If he declares himself fit Arsenal would be hypocrites to whine.

Arsenal Quotes

It’s not impossible to go through a season unbeaten and I can’t see why it’s shocking to say that.
