It's all about getting the right blend in midfield to get the best out of our options, at present, and since Santi got injured we haven't found the right blend, mainly in my opinion due to our insistence on trying to run with a two man midfield.

Personally I'd love to see a three man midfield and go back to a back four to make better use of our options

you could have either

1. Standard Ball winner (Coq)/Playmaker(Xhaka/Santi/Jack)/B2B combo(Rambo or Elneny if your desperate)

------Coq------
Ramsey-Xhaka

Coq is DM, ball winner, never strays far from the CB's and goes back to intercepting/tackling and laying it off to Xhaka/Rambo/Wilshere

or

2. High press.

------Xhaka==-----
--Ramsey--Coq----
Welbz-Lac-Sanchez

Xhaka is NOT a DM, he is the deep playmaker, receives the ball from the back and dictates the play, Ramsey and Coquelin initiate the high press along with Sanchez, Welbeck and Lacazette

Instead we persevere with two men in the centre and we don't have the players to pull it off, we barely change formation to suit the opponent and even when we change the starting players they carry out the same duties i.e we swap Rambo out for Coq and then proceed to let Coq try and play like Rambo which ultimately fails

Coq is alot better than given credit for. Great destroyer, very underrated dribbler. His only weakness is his passing. Wenger played him as a b2b to win possession high up the pitch and give it to Özil. Ideally, he'd make a good partner for Xhaka with Xhaka being a dlp and Coq destroying upfront...something nearly similar to Matic - Kante.
We honestly need to try out a 4-3-3. Özil can play out wide if required.

Needs to work on his final ball and decision making in general. When your DM gets the ball you want to feel at ease cause you know he won't lose it easily. There is none of that when he gets the ball. Thought he was decent tonight though.

He was not as bad as this, or maybe what we witnessed with Cazorla was fake form which was disguised as “improvement”.

Either way he needs to get his **** together or be let go in the summer, because we need someone who can challenge Xhaka and Coquelin right now is not even a better options than Maitland-Niles.

Wenger needs to stop pretending Coq is anything except a ball-winner. He shouldn't be anywhere near the final third.

Showed today what we always knew. Great ball winner, average at everything else. Still think he could be useful player in the right setup. His tackle on Sane was one of the best I've seen this season.

Did well from a defensive point of view, no idea why he was the centre of the defensive trio tho I suppose Kos and Nacho aren't great in the centre either.

had a good game. Will do well in a properly set-up midfield

Passing percentage 65,2%, 28 touches in 55 minutes playing as a CB. Three tackles total, 1 clearance and 1 interception. Clearly one of the worst players on the pitch.

But hey, he's Coq. Apparently there are lot of fans out there who think it's ok to be absolutely horrendous with the ball if you just succeed in making a couple of flamboyant last chance tackles.

You may be right, but I saw him making a lot of good tackles.

Arsenal Quotes

Football is a bit like elections. Before it's unpredictable. After it's unexplainable... But there's an opportunity for us to make it unforgettable.
